Cooler Throw Down: Does Ozark Trail Stack up with Yeti and Pelican?

Running from sizes 14 oz to 64 oz, this tumbler keeps drinks cold for 8 hours. All of the tumblers had the same 27 ounces of crushed ice and were placed in the sun in a straight line so all received the same amount of sun, heat and breeze. After a brief rain shower around noon, the sun came out and stayed out.

This affordable, leak-resistant tumbler keeps hot and cold drinks at an ideal temperature for hours. And it’s the only one we tested that comes with both a straw lid and a flip-top lid. The 18/8 stainless steel gives it a clean palate, and doesn’t leave behind any metallic taste. The tumbler is also very easy to wash as both the cup and lid is dishwasher safe. This is a huge advantage knowing you can save time by not having to hand-wash it. Both lids screw into the mouth of the tumbler, creating an airtight seal that keeps liquid from seeping out—even when we knocked the cup on its side.

I also placed  a small weather system on the deck rail to help get a sense of how hot surface temperatures are in the area. On one of the hottest days, the remote sensor reported temperatures exceeding 107 Degrees Fahrenheit while the air temp was in the high 80’s. Our sister site Alloutdoor.com recently reviewed a hiking backpack sold by Ozark Trail that had an overall stellar performance and it triggered a question among our staff.

With a 40-ounce capacity, this reusable tumbler is the drinkware everyone needs in their pantry. Double wall insulation and double wall lid keeps liquid hot and cold longer. This tumbler kept beverages cold for nine hours (longer than any other vessel we tested). And its straw lid creates a tight seal that prevents most leaks. But it comes in a limited number of colors and sizes, and it has a straw lid only.

This Ozark Trail 30 oz Insulated ozark trail chair Stainless Steel Tumbler with Swivel Handle is one of my new favorites! It has a leakproof lid, a carrying handle, and it holds 30oz of liquid! Whether you are going on a field adventure or driving to work, a favorite drink in the morning is indispensable. But the problem I have always encountered is that in the hot summer, the ice cubes in the cold drink quickly dissolve while in the cold winter, the hot coffee quickly cools off.
