Dubbed the Jet Fuel, this electric bike is made by Hyper Bicycle Co, a brand which we’ve talked about quite a bit here on InsideEVs. Known for its affordable electric bike offerings, Hyper has been making a name for itself in the for-sport e-bike category, with a number of entry-level electric mountain bikes that significantly lower the barriers to entry. The brand’s e-bike offerings, some of which can even be found in Walmart, are indeed built to a budget, but nonetheless offer the enhanced mobility you’d come to expect from an e-bike.
It became obvious that if Hyper was to continue to progress new opportunities would need to be explored. From supercars and hypercars, McLaren has entered the field of two-wheels with the debut of its first-ever range of hyper e-bikes, Extreme and Sport. These two-wheel rides have been designed by the same teams responsible for supercars like the electrified and lightweight McLaren Artura hybrid model.
Just like the McLaren supercars, these hyper e-bikes also come with power modes that the riders can choose from using the digital display. The Extreme range is a full-suspension mountain e-bike designed for maximum off-road riding and control, while the Sport series is suited for fast cruising around cities and off-road tracks. All the aforementioned five power modes are based on the settings found in McLaren Sport, and both the Sport and Extreme models are equipped with Pirelli tires to weather all kinds hyper bicycles of roads and bumps. The Extreme 600W and Extreme 250W feature SRAM wireless XX Eagle Transmission 12-speed drivetrains.
The lightweight cast aluminum wheels were designed specifically for the Ninja H2® and were created using analysis from Kawasaki’s WorldSBK team. Star-pattern 5-spoke wheels offer optimum rigidity for high-power performance and feature pinstripes for a prestigious image. Bridgestone Battlax RS11 sport tires contribute to sharp handling.
