Schwinn Coston DX Ebike Review

Find one that works for you, then charge up and ride happy. That lovely early morning ride can turn into a chore when the wind shifts and starts blowing in your face rather than against your back. But with e-bikes, you will hardly notice the difference. At first, I was nervous about the bike going 20 miles an hour.

Check out their website and give them a ring, I hope this helps because I don’t think Schwinn sells batteries for t his ebike anymore. There are a lot of good ideas on this bike, but it still feels more like a bike designed by a committee that was told, “Build an electric bike so we can get some great press! ” than a group that actually understood electric bikes, or even had a real mission for this bike.

With her e-bike she can now enjoy (and complete) our rides.” — Jose A.“Excellent bike! It is a large bike but a small/medium fit me perfectly at 5’9. The suspension seatpost is an amazing feature.” — Jovan C. Another problem was Schwinn’s failure to design and market its schwinn beach cruiser bicycles to specific, identifiable buyers, especially the growing number of cyclists interested in road racing or touring.

By default, the console shows the battery left, speed, total distance and pedal assist level. Nothing feels cheap, plastic-y, or vulnerable to quick failure. It all seems like a robust and well-built electric bike. You also get two different frame sizes to choose from, which is a big upgrade over the single one-size-fits-all frames that many e-bike companies still offer.

Reproduction in whole or in part without permission is prohibited. Instead of fumbling with it myself, I go to my favorite local bike shop, Spin Bicycle Shop, in Lansing, Michigan. For $70, the shop put my new Schwinn e-bike together and offered to make any tweaks after I rode it for a little bit. No owners manual so this video has helped a lot with the battery removal trick etc (since my only other experience is a Raleigh retro eglide). I tested a couple Schwinn e-bikes from the demo stable at the end of the Square 2 Square ride in Bentonville recently.

The seat is slim, performance-oriented, and perfect for the intense cycling workouts this bike was designed for. We found it quite comfortable, with ample padding and a pressure relief cutout. Riders who prefer a broader, more supportive seat will likely find the race seat to be a bit too narrow, and it can easily be swapped out for a top-rated bike seat. The large, rubber-coated multi-position handlebar also provides a huge range of hand positions to suit your riding style or preference. The Schwinn IC4 impressed us with its excellent exercise quality that is suitable for all fitness levels. This spin bike is stable and sturdy, with a 40 lb weighted flywheel and 100 micro-adjustable levels of smooth, quiet magnetic resistance.

For now, however, Class 3 e-bikes hit the highest regulated speed. When Schwinn contacted me about reviewing one of the bikes, I chose the Coston DX in the step-thru version, which makes for easy mounting. The Coston DX is distinguished from the Coston CE and the Marshall by a larger battery (360 watt-hours versus 288 watt-hours in the other two), giving it a range of up-to 45 miles (versus 35 for the other two). It also has upgraded fenders, a rear rack and a unique storage saddle that opens like a clamshell with the hinge in the nose and has room for your wallet, phone, energy bars or a multi-tool. All three models have headlights, taillights and integrated downtube lights for full visibility.

Experience the thrill of riding with the added benefit of electric power. Whether you’re commuting to work or exploring the great outdoors, Schwinn eBikes are designed to enhance your riding experience and make every journey enjoyable. The IC4 is built around an impressively stable and beefy steel frame, even under the hardest out-of-the-saddle pedaling efforts. The frame supports a belt-driven 40 lb weighted flywheel with 100 levels of magnetic resistance.
