Review of Yeti Tumbler vs Ozark Trail: Which is of Better Value?

It holds a lot of water at 40oz, but it doesn’t feel super bulky because it is long and skinny. The handle is super sturdy and high enough that it doesn’t get in the way of a cup holder. Although it isn’t leak proof, the lid screws on and off really easily and keeps the contents secure. You will be happy to know that unlike stainless steel water bottles of the past, these insulated tumblers won’t freeze your hands when you have cold drinks or burn them with your hot beverages. The Ozark Trail 40-ounce double wall stainless steel tumbler will keep you hydrated all day long with less refill. With a 40-ounce capacity, this reusable tumbler is the drinkware everyone needs in their pantry.

I started the test first thing when I got to the office and was waiting for hours on end. By the time I left the office about eight hours later, the ice still wasn’t entirely melted and the water levels in both tumblers seemed to be at the same level. Putting them side by side, the Yeti and Ozark Trails tumblers look exactly alike. They’re the same size and shape, are made of stainless steel, and have similar sip tops. ozark trail chair The only real physical differences are that Yeti has a slider on the lid and they have different logos adorning the cups (obviously).

If you haven’t heard of the brand name Ozark, then you should know that it is a company that specializes in outdoor recreation products. Not only is the Ozark Trail line of thermoses BPA free but they are also rust proof and feature a sweat-proof design. One of the things that I was curious about was how well the lids performed. The locking lid and open mouth lids do seem to provide similar results when paired with the 22oz Tumbler, but I had one more text I wanted to run. I won’t go crazy with scientific research in this article, but I will reference just a single study to provide some context.

To take this a step further, you may encounter a noticeable change in flavor as your coffee’s temperature reduces. The less expensive Ozark Trail Tumbler was declared the winner of my very casual unscientific YETI vs. Ozark Trail Tumbler challenge! And they both really did seem pretty similar in performance and are both fantastic tumblers to consider. Tumblers, one from YETI and one from Ozark Trail, to test if there’s a difference that would make me want to spend 4x as much money for the YETI. We seem to have a growing supply of tumblers at home and I often wonder if there’s a difference between the higher-end brands like YETI and Walmart’s more affordable brand Ozark Trail.

There are a few key features that are really important to me and created a good benchmark of which brands to include. They had to be insulated for maximum chill factor (no one likes a warm drink), include a straw or a lid with room to add your own, fit in a cup holder, and be a large size. I did my best to keep the sizes comparable across brands, so each one has a capacity between 24 to 40 ounces. However, if you are simply looking to be able to tote your drink while keeping cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot, without using dangerous plastics, the Ozark Trail tumbler is the way to go. Neither the Ozark Trail nor the Yeti are designed to be leak proof, unlike insulated stainless steel water bottles.

The shape and weight of both tumblers are very much the same. You can basically get the same type of performance that Yeti Tumbler can give you but get two of them for the same price. This is where the Ozark Trail Tumbler gets a lot of love, because it is very inexpensive. The Rambler Lowball is the mini version of the tumbler but unlike the Ozark Trail which is 12 ounces, it is only 10 ounces.
