After a while of riding the chain broke and fell off on the road leaving me without brakes headed into traffic. I suggest buying a new chain for these bikes. So far I’ve had to replace quit a few of the parts on this bike, including the plastic pedals, the handle bar grippers, the chain, and both inner tubes( which suddenly popped with no sign of a puncture). It’s a good looking bike but just about everything on it is trash.
I should have brought at least two spares to have a higher margin of safety. I found this Huffy bicycle on the side of a road. Aside from trashed tires and one flat tube, it mostly needed just a cleaning to make it presentable. I shelled out for two new, slightly wider tires (no whitewalls), tubes, and handlebar grips, removed the decals, and added a bell and reflectors I already had. The front fork and chainguard were a very dull silver (a.k.a., gray) that detracted from the look of the huffy mountain bike chrome fenders, so I sprayed on two coats of Rustoleum gloss white. This 24″ cruiser is comfortable to ride and has so many stylish features.
It sounded like a gunshot but I instantly realized exactly what it was when it happened. My butt knew from the way the rear of the bicycle was squirming around. Wearing glowsticks on the neck and wrists and reflective orange bands on the calves, I set out onto dark roads illuminated only by the super-bright headlight of the cruiser. One great thing about setting out at this cricket-chirping hour was that there were very few cars on the road. Arianna has held up remarkably over the years, especially considering the abuse I have subjected her to.
This is a classic cruiser in like-new condition! It comes with a front basket, a built-in rear rack, a cup holder, and a matching set of fenders to keep you dry. It features a coaster (aka pedal-back or foot brake) that is easy to use and requires minimal maintenance. I’ve experienced this before, a result of over-inflating the Huffy’s tires. The rims on this bike were not exactly machined to military precision and don’t seem to “grab” onto the tires’ wire beads very securely.
